Bronzeville (Chicago)
As a community, we are new in the area and new to the ministry here. We are getting to know the locale, the people and the culture. We are also getting known in this environment. We achieve these tasks by being willing to learn, introducing ourselves to others, answering people’s questions about us, and responding to the hospitality offered.
We are involved in three different contexts: formal studies, parish ministry, and Archdiocesan mission office. Fundamentally our mission it to witness Christ’s hope and joy to the people we meet. We do this by listening, working to form positive relationships by being with people in mutuality. We have taken workshops about African American spirituality and evangelization, joined the choir and religious education programs, tutoring and parish Bible studies. Mainly we find every chance to reach out to people and connect.
